Seaside 7.18.13

Our last full day of vacation started out a bit gloomy.  It was a bit overcast and breezy, but we decided to drive north to Seaside and check out the aquarium.  This aquarium has been around since 1937 and unfortunately, nothing much has changed.  It's a tiny little place with very few animals held in not great enclosures.  It was really neat to get to see and feed the seals, but other than that it was pretty depressing.  I left there just wishing they could spend some money and make it into a much better place for the animals.  From there we walked the boardwalk and Logan got to ride a really cool carousel.  The good news was that by the time we made it back to the hotel, the sun was shining and it was beautiful!  Logan and I quickly donned our swimsuits and headed down to the beach.  And while it was oh so very sunny, the wind was a beast, so our sunbathing expedition did not last long.  So, we covered up and headed back to the tide pools.  My mom's friend, who was camping in the area, joined us and then we all drove to another beach close by to check out a lighthouse and the beach.  Overall, it turned into another fantastic day of vacation!

Sea star...awesome!

This octopus was so cool.

Logan practically had the whole carousel to himself.

When we got back to our room, our room service people had left us some swans! :o)
