Mother's Day 5.10.15

Happy Mother's Day!! It was a beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest, so we decided to head to one of our favorite restaurants, Seeds, in La Conner for some delicious lunch. (That way none of us moms had to cook.) After lunch we headed down Main Street to do some window and actual shopping. I was disappointed to see that one of my favorite book stores was not longer there and that some other shops I liked were gone, but it was still a great day and I feel awfully blessed that I got to spend it with both my son and my mom (and of course all my other family members as well).  Happy Mother's Day to all you amazing moms who inspire me every single day.

Norm to Vet 5.8.15

So here's the thing...Norman LOVES going to the vet. NO joke. When we pull in, it's all I can do to get the door open fast enough for him to go barreling in. He loves the people, he loves the other animals, he just loves going. He gets so excited, in fact, that it's very hard for him to stay still on the scale and once we're put in an exam room, he is constantly standing at the door waiting for someone to come in and visit with him.  And in the midst of all this excitement and panting, he sheds as if his life depended on it and he feels the need to rub up against us as he goes back and forth from us to the door. It's quite comical and makes for a very "fun" day. Oh sweet Norm, how we do love you and all your personality quirks! :o)

8th Baseball Game 5.6.15

Another great game today. I've been so impressed with Logan's coaches this year. Logan is at an age where he can really be learning not only the fundamentals of baseball, but all the subtle pieces of it as well and his coaches have been SO great about teaching it to him at his level and not just telling him go there and do this. They are giving him the whys and hows as well. I'm so thankful for all the time and patience these guys are putting into this team.

The Avengers Age of Ultron 5.2.15

Today Logan and I decided we couldn't wait a day longer and needed to go see Avengers Age of Ultron. And boy did it not disappoint! It was SO good, possibly even better than the original. And Logan and I always love that they put a scene at the end of the credit! It was a great way to spend a couple hours!

6th Baseball Game 4.29.15

Here's what I loved about this particular game...Logan has discovered Big League Chew and he's certain he needs it to play; and how seriously he's taking the game. Whether he's on base, up to bat, or in the outfield, he takes his job very seriously and it's pretty awesome to watch!

5th Baseball Game 4.27.15

It was another great game today. Logan got on base a couple times and ran his little tush off around those bases!

New Book for Me 4.24.15

My brother introduced me to the Game of Thrones series a few years ago and I've been hooked ever sense. These are not little books, nor does the reading of them go quickly, but for some reason I was in the mood to pick up the first one again. And I'm so glad I did. I absolutely LOVE this series!!!  Read it!!

From a master of contemporary fantasy comes the first novel of a landmark series unlike any you’ve ever read before. With A Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin has launched a genuine masterpiece, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. Mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill the pages of this magnificent saga, the first volume in an epic series sure to delight fantasy fans everywhere.

A GAME OF THRONES
A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE: BOOK ONE

Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. To the south, the king’s powers are failing—his most trusted adviser dead under mysterious circumstances and his enemies emerging from the shadows of the throne. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the frozen land they were born to. Now Lord Eddard Stark is reluctantly summoned to serve as the king’s new Hand, an appointment that threatens to sunder not only his family but the kingdom itself.

Sweeping from a harsh land of cold to a summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, A Game of Thronestells a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens. Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; a child is lost in the twilight between life and death; and a determined woman undertakes a treacherous journey to protect all she holds dear. Amid plots and counter-plots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, allies and enemies, the fate of the Starks hangs perilously in the balance, as each side endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.

Unparalleled in scope and execution, A Game of Thrones is one of those rare reading experiences that catch you up from the opening pages, won’t let you go until the end, and leave you yearning for more.

4th Baseball Game 4.22.15

Logan's 4th baseball game was away. I'm so proud of his dedication and effort to a sport that really isn't his favorite. He loves running the bases and playing with his friends, but the actual sport doesn't really interest him. However, even saying all that, he shows up to practice every day ready to learn and tries his best at every game. That makes me one proud Mama.

April Book Club Book 4.19.15

This was Kim's choice for our April Book Club book.  We've all seen the movie, but none of us have read the book.  I thought it was a great read and learned more about football along the way.

When we first meet Michael Oher is one of thirteen children by a mother addicted to crack; he does not know his real name, his father, his birthday, or how to read or write. He takes up football, and school, after a rich, white, Evangelical family plucks him from the streets. Then two great forces alter Oher: the family's love and the evolution of professional football itself into a game in which the quarterback must be protected at any cost. Our protagonist becomes the priceless package of size, speed, and agility necessary to guard the quarterback's greatest vulnerability: his blind side.

Showing Our Support 4.18.15

Brett's team takes the field.

The batter heads to first!

Brett patiently waiting for a big hit to reach him.

Look at those mitts!

Logan's selfie with a cameo by Jason! ;o)

Today Logan and I spent the day supporting our friends in their sporting events. First up was Brett's baseball game. While Logan is not old by any means, he's not a little anymore and it was SO fun to watch littles try their hand at baseball. I forgot what it was like with them so young. So much time waiting, so many things in the grass to look at, so many attempts to get that darn ole ball in the air. So fun! Then it was off to see Brooke in her volleyball tournament. She's such a great player and one of the littlest players on her team. It brought back great memories for me and my volleyball days. How lucky we were to be able to see our friends play!

2nd Baseball Game 4.18.15

Younger siblings.

My boy up to bat.

Good game boys.

Logan's second baseball game of the season was at home. The boys played great and as a special treat the younger siblings decided to try to make a little money by selling rocks. It was fantastic!

LEGO Creations 4.17.15

Craig and Logan were playing Legos today and putting some creations together and soon I get called over.  They wanted to have me take pictures and put them on Facebook.  Oh silly boys.

Spoiled Norman 4.16.15

I am ten and I will sleep on the couch and use your pillows if I want.  The end.

1st Baseball Game 4.15.15

Today was Logan's first baseball game and it was great!  The boys did awesome and Logan got his first war wound.  Way to go team!!!

Out with the girls 4.12.15

Dinner and a movie with my girls!  I always have such fun with these two lovely ladies!

Surprise Party for Karen 4.10.15

Tonight a bunch of us surprised Karen with a little get together to celebrate her big 4-0!  I think she had a little inclining that this was happening, but didn't know all the details.  It was a fun evening celebrating this great friend of mine!  Happy Birthday Karen!

New Table 4.10.15

Today we got our new table delivered and I think it's just beautiful!

Baseball Practice 4.9.15

Somebody really wanted to join me today for Logan's baseball practice.  Oh Norman, you are hard to say no to.

Tulip Fields 4.8.15

We spent the afternoon of Kim's birthday tiptoeing through the tulips! :o)  It was a lovely Spring day to spend with the family relishing in this beautiful flowers.  And then that evening we got to celebrate Kim's birthday!  What a great way to spend the day!

Shopping for Karen's Birthday 4.7.15

Today Karen and I had a fun outing for her upcoming birthday!  We got make overs at the Bobbi Brown counter by two wonderful ladies.  Had an absolutely delicious lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe.  And went shopping.  It was a very fun afternoon that ended with baseball practice for our boys.  Happy early Birthday Karen!  Thanks for spending time with me today!
