Cannon Beach 7.16.13

We woke up this morning to a very overcast sky, but that certainly wasn't going to stop us from heading right back down to the beach.  There are these awesome tide pools around Haystack Rock so that when the tide is out you can see all this amazing sea life.  We saw more birds than we could count both in different kinds and in number, humongous barnacles, tons of sea anemones, and my favorite, star fish!  There were so many and they were so vibrant in their colors, I just couldn't get enough.  Logan was in heaven.  He kept going back and forth between star fish and anemones and touching everything before I could get to him to tell him not to.  Little bugger.  But man was it cool.  After checking out the tide pools and playing on the beach for a bit, we headed back up to our room for some lunch and then back down to the beach to go exploring.  We didn't start our exploration with the idea that we would walk as far north on the beach as we possibly could, but that's what ended up happening.  It was some pretty fantastic time with my little guy, but man were we getting tired on the way back.  We figured we did about 6 miles and in the sand with a little boy asking for a piggy back ride, I was dying.  We got back in time to head to another restaurant that Mom and Dad like called Camp 18.  It was this really cool old rustic building with all these wood carvings both outside and inside.  We'd definitely go back there again too!  :o)  Overall, a fantastic 2nd day of vacation.

If you can't read it, it says, "Logan's beach."  Oh how I wish buddy!

Ah sweet vacation.

When the sky would clear, the views of the rock were awesome.

Sea anemones.

Logan wanted to be buried in the sand.

Teeny, tine hermit crab.

Star fish everywhere, and oops, I let him pick it up.

They were just amazing.

The pelicans were way cool as well.

Logan chasing seagulls.  It looks like they're about to face off.

We've reached the end of the beach and Logan was acting like a sea creature emerging from the rocks.

Dancing bears and dancing Logan at Camp 18.

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at "The Picnic Basket" for ice cream and taffy.

We came home to find this little guy on our railing...who knows, maybe it was the aforementioned seagull coming for round two!  :o)
