Karen invited us to join them for a day out in the big city. We would do a little shopping, eat some dinner, and end the evening with the parade we had been hearing so much about. Everything started out great! We got to see all the city decorated for the holidays. We went to a book store and got new books (and who doesn't love that) and then decided to eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. None of us had eaten there before and let me just say...delicious!!! And then of course we all had to try their cheesecake for dessert. So good, but so big! Wow! Anyway, we knew the parade started at 7:00, so by 6:30 we were out the doors and lined up with a front row view for the parade. I took a picture of Logan and posted it to Facebook saying how excited we were to watch this parade and couldn't wait until it started. The funny thing was that Karen and I were surprised as 7:00 was getting closer and closer and they weren't shutting down the street. Weird. The good news was that there was entertainment right behind us as some street performers were walking up and down and there was music playing the entire time. So, while we were a little cold and growing a bit more and more impatient, at least there was some entertainment. I even ran into one of my old students with his wife and kids. All good. However, it was now well after 7:00 with no parade insight and three very weary boys. So as we kept waiting I happened to check my Facebook post and found that one of my friends had commented on my post. Here is what she said..."Just so no one is surprised...it's a sidewalk show, not a parade. The parade is only the day after Thanksgiving. Enjoy!" OMG!>!>!> Are you freakin' kidding me? Needless to say, we were disappointed, but tried to make the most of it. And after the fact, got quite a good laugh out of the fact that we had our backs to the actual show practically the entire time waiting for this elusive parade. Oh well, live and learn! :o)
Just some of the decorations.
Mudge even got to come along on our adventure.
Seriously, delicious Cheesecake, but oh so big!
Karen was smart and shared a dessert with Brett.
Street performer...errr, start of the show?
We're so ready to celebrate!
Looking good guys.
They even gave us snow!
Really cool light display.
At this point, we realized there was no actual parade and that we were standing right under a speaker. The boys were nearly in tears, they were so ready to go. Bless their hearts.
On the way out, we swung by the LEGO store...it seemed like a better way to end the evening.
