Gingerbread House and The Hobbit 12.22.14

Delicious.  That's how I would describe Logan's Gingerbread House...it looked delicious!  We had such a great time this year decorating the Gingerbread House and Beau really wanted to help, if help means eating it all! ;o)  It was such a fun day because after we decorated, we went to the movie and saw the last installment of The Hobbit!  SO GOOD!!!  Have I mentioned lately how much I love Winter Break?!?!?! 

Wild Lights 12.12.14

So fun. While I love traditions (especially this time of year), it's always fun to check out something new.  This year, instead of doing the Light of Christmas which we've done for the past 8 years, we decided to head to our local zoo and do Zoo Lights instead.  And oh my gosh, talk about fun!  I was so impressed with all the animals made out of lights.  And while most of the zoo was closed, we did get to see some animals, including reindeer!  It was quite cold, but totally worth the trip.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Holiday Decor 12.12.14

It's Christmas time!!!  I love everything about this time of year and I like our house to reflect that.  Every year I try to get something new to add to our décor.  It just puts us in the holiday spirit.  It takes awhile to get everything set up, but man is it fun to have it all out throughout the month of December.

Holiday Program 12.11.14

Fa la la. Logan's holiday program this year was very busy.  There were a lot of moving pieces and a lot of kids involved.   I LOVED seeing Logan play the recorder this year.  Oh my gosh, it brought back so many memories of when I played.  He seemed very hesitant at first, but then seemed to get into it more.  But heck, for all I know, he totally could have been faking! ;o)  It's always fun to see the kids geared up for the holidays and this was no exception!

Elfie's Back 12.1.14

Santa 11.30.14

Santa. Oh how much we love visiting Santa every year!  It really feels like it kicks off the Christmas season, even though it's still November, it just means Christmas.  The setting is always perfectly done up and every year I love to hear what Logan wants to talk about.  The line wasn't bad at all this year and the experience was so special.  I can't wait to go again next year!  Thank you Santa for all your love, patience, goodwill, and joy!  You exemplify what the season is about.

Tree Hunt 11.29.14

Snow. Here in Washington searching for the perfect Christmas tree is more likely to happen in the rain than the snow, so it never occurred to me that when we scheduled our tree extravaganza that there would be even the slightest chance we'd be doing it in the snow.  Well, boy, did Mother Nature have a laugh on me.  As it was, the roads were a little dicey, but not bad at all, and the setting was breathtaking.  The only hiccup was that it's much harder to get a good look at a tree when it's covered in snow! ;o)  That didn't deter us though.  This year it was just Dad, Mom, Logan, and I and we went to a new tree farm as they were raising money for a very sick young man and we really wanted to help donate towards that.  As it was, it was a lovely tree farm and I'd go back again and again.  Our tree was great and well priced and the help was awesome.  And Dad decided that this was the last year he would ever cut down a tree with a hand saw...next year we're going with a battery operated one!  Thanks Dad and Mom for braving this lovely winter weather with us and helping us find a tree perfect for our little house!
